Kid-A
E-commerce website for get go fone
Working with our client, award-winning creative solutions agency Kid-A, we designed, developed, tested and launched this e-commerce website for a new mobile phone accessory brand get go fone. Our brief was to create a website that delivered a seamless, hands-free retail operation – with the additional challenge that it needed to be up and running within just 12 weeks!
We developed the website in WordPress, selecting to use this off-the-shelf platform because it allowed us to deliver a fully functional e-commerce website in a fraction of the time and for significantly less budget than a bespoke solution would have required.
The versatility of WordPress gave us the creative scope to design a visually impactful website that reflects get go fone’s branding and provides an attractive showcase for the products being retailed. We utilised the WooCommerce plugin to optimise future scalability and to ensure the site has the capability to integrate with virtually any service provider.
We incorporated a wide range of functionality, integrating the website with other e-commerce systems, including solutions for stock management and customer payments (we introduced our client to their payment gateway partner Gr8pay). The website delivers an intuitive user experience. Visitors can browse by accessory category or use the search tool and can zoom in on images for high-resolution detail.
A key design consideration was making checkout as clear and straightforward as possible. We achieved this by auto-populating information, minimising mouse clicks and clearly showing shoppers where they are in the checkout process. Customer security was also a priority, and our client engaged a specialist company to undertake ‘penetration testing’, in order to make sure the site we built conforms to the highest compliance standards.
Wicko Design continues to work closely with Kid-A. We have responsibility for all aspects of get go fone’s web presence, including editing and uploading new content, adding features and functionality, ongoing updates and maintenance – in addition to hosting the website on a dedicated server and regularly backing up data.
